Plain Seam Using Basting Stitch
This is essentially the same method as sewing a Plain Seam, but with one major difference:
I’ve marked on the fabric so you can see the length of the basting stitch stitches. They should be approximately six stitches per inch.
The Book says: “The basting stitch is used to sew two pieces of fabric together when a temporary seam is needed for preliminary fitting of a garment or as the first step in sewing a specialty seam.”
