So, seams. Anyone doing the assignment with me? I picked up some fabric on Saturday and it’s in the washer right now. I’m hoping to sew most of the afternoon.
Here’s my super professional sketch of what I want to do:
I’m going to attempt a simple A-line skirt and add a strip of pieced fabric near the bottom with some fun-fun open welt seams on either side. Possibly a few darts and some embroidery will come into play, but I’m really not counting on it. In fact, if things turn out completely different, say, looking like a hotpad, don’t judge too harshly. Please.
I’m setting tomorrow as the assignment’s due date for myself. Just because I need guidelines or I procrastinate too much. Like in college when I did my senior thesis course via independent study and ended up needing an extra year to complete it. Priceless life lesson there, so glad it happened.
Next series of lessons should go up on Wednesday. And if we’re real lucky, I’m hoping to introduce a fun little feature on Saturday: Serger Saturday, wherein I’ll try out a new technique on my serger and share it here. I know. It’s going to be completely awesome. Or a complete disaster. Either way, I’m excited to explore the potential of my machine.
