The next six seams are today. And get ready, because these seams are some crazy stuff! Okay, not really, but there are some fun ones today. I’ll continue to link to previous steps that have been covered as they come into play with the seams I do today.
If I get a chance to pick up a ball-point needle, since I can’t find one around here, I’ll also post Seams on Knitted Fabrics, too. There are some really helpful tips in that little section, so I’ll definately go over it, even if it’s not today.
Also, since Char posted and now there are quite a few more of you viewing, please keep in mind: I’m not a good sewist. Sewist? Why don’t they use “seamstress” anymore? Is it becuase it sounds more feminine?
Anyway, I’m learning pretty much as I go since most of these techniques, especially those I go over today and beyond, I either have never done before or made up and bluffed my way through in the past. The idea is to practice every technique first hand, so that I can better understand what I’m supposed to be doing. I’m a hands-on girl, if you are too, grab some scraps and play along. It really is pretty fun. I’m keeping all the little technique scraps I do in the Book to use as reference. A card file or something similar would be a good idea, too, along with personal notes and observations. I may pick one up today. Along with that ball point needle.
A’right, on with the day’s lessons…
