Remember what I said about my talent with alliteration? Impressive, I know.
Okay, so I thought I’d give a little preview/update/whatever of what I have been working on for my pocket assignment. Because I was doing one project for three weeks worth of lessons, I decided to go a little more complex. It is entirely possible I went too complex, but I’m still holding onto hope for them to somehow, miraculously turn out fantastic. Fingers crossed. Pretty please. Maybe.
Anyway, I have these capris I bought on clearance online. Nonreturnable.
Turns out there’s this stupid thing called “Junior Sizing” that is, in fact, NOT the same as regular-what-I’ve-worn-my-entire-adult-life sizing. So, yeah, they don’t fit and I’m stuck with them. So I’m trying to copy them in a larger size.
Here is where I am with them as of right this very second
Well, plus all the other pieces cut out and stuff. But still, a few hours from completion. I’m doing a form of patch pockets at the hips and bound buttonhole pockets on the bum. I really, REALLY stink at doing bound buttonhole pockets, I’ve discovered. So it’s pretty awesome I’m using them with vintage linen my mom gave me that I can’t replace. But I am digging the hip patch pockets. I love the gathering and the piping. Here is the other one all scary and dangerous.
So, that’s where I am. Will they be finished by tomorrow? I have no idea. I really want to go over the first section of sleeves in The Book, and that will most likely take up all my sewing time for the day. But it might be for the best, delaying the reality that I’ve most likely made these too small with their ugly back pockets and all that jazz.
Also, I’m thinking of using lime green buttons on the back pockets. Thoughts on that? Discuss.
