The Book says, “A tie collar is very similar to the straight band or mandarin collar. However, the collar pattern is longer on each end to create the ties.” I didn’t end up making my ties long enough to actually tie (oops) so you’ll just have to imagine that part.
Start with the pattern piece, or in my case, pieces. Again, like the book says, it’s basically a regular collar, but longer. The book suggests cutting the pieces on the fold, so as to just have one wide, long piece. I didn’t see that before cutting out two long pieces
So instead of just folding over lengthwise, right sides together, as the book suggests, I had to put right sides together…
and sew along the one edge to make them one
From there, folded or sewn, you need to sew down the edges and along the bottom, leaving an opening where the collar actually will attach to the shirt
Turn through the opening, pushing corners out
And that’s it. I tried to tie it, but, uh, yeah.
Still, the concept is there, so let’s just pretend.
