After much anticipation, the next of the collar lessons is finally up.
I had put this lesson off for, what, a month now, because it seemed like it would be hard and I just didn’t want to do it. Plus, why would I need to know how to do a shawl collar? But after doing it today, I can tell you, it’s really pretty easy. And I have about three sketches I’m excited about that I want to make using this technique. And none are for my boys even though J. was really working the look with the practice muslin.
So yeah, I guess I should have sucked up my pansyness awhile ago instead of waiting until now. I still have one more Halloween costume to finish, but I have every intention of going fabric shopping in the next couple of days for one of my shawl collar sketches. But, really, I’m still seriously intimidated by what I want to do for this assignment. Especially after spending 12 hours yesterday on three hats that all will be burned soon on account of them not actually working on human-shaped heads. My confidence in my ability is a bit low right now. Stupid hats. Or heads. Whatever. Stupid.
There are two more collars in The Book to go over. But, as you all know, no promises on how quickly I’ll get to them. Especially the Revere Collar. Boring. But I’m determined to finish The Book, so it will happen…eventually.
