We’ve had some warmer weather lately. Not warm, by any means, but warmER. And it’s really given me a bad case of spring fever, and made me antsy to figure out our yard plans for this year. I know this isn’t sewing related, but it’s been on my mind quite a bit. And sorry, but it probably won’t be the last time I bring this subject up. This year my husband and I would very much like to work on our backyard. We both would like to learn to garden. We’ve planted in the past, but not really anything hugely successful, or really all that organized or thought out.
The kids play set needs some work done on it, too. CSN Stores has quite the extensive swing set site, and I’m thinking a glider would be a great addition to our existing wooden set. And we should probably stain it again. Our play set is such a huge fixture in our backyard, that when it looks nice, the whole yard looks better. Plus, something new will hopefully make the set more enticing again for the boys, keeping them occupied so I can have more sewing time, right?
But really, my main concern is the garden. I have no idea where to start with this. So this is where you all come in, do you know of any blogs, sites, or whatever that you go to for basic gardening information? Any favorite books? The plan is to do raised boxes this year. Last spring we tilled, graveled, and enclosed about a 30 by 15 foot area in the backyard for this. But then got intimidated and never did anything more. The gravel does look nice, though.
