I’ll be honest.
The thought of Christmas seemed a little anti-climatic this year. I spent so much time and energy preparing for and looking forward to the new baby, that I let most of our family holiday traditions slip. My poor kids. The past few days they’ve been declaring, “We still haven’t…” insert individual favorite seasonal activity here.
So I’m really glad that my mom didn’t let me out of doing the Christmas PJs this year (and I tried). We did nightgowns for the two older girls (modified Simplicity 2831) and my oldest sister knit them leg warmers to match, two-piece PJs for the boys (Simplicity 5271) with some homemade silk screening, and one of my favorite designs for the baby: a kimono-style bunting from this Japanese blog.
Though I do regret that we didn’t get in more of our usual traditions, at least we were on track for Christmas Eve. Friends and family, white chili and fried bread, gift exchange, and matching homemade pajamas for the grandkids.
Sure we may not have gotten in all the fun we usually try to get in leading up to Christmas, but he family is gathered, the stockings are hung, the pajamas are matching, and I think we’re ready for this Night Before after all. Merry Christmas!
