I haven’t posted at all about our backyard gardening efforts this year. I’m so sorry. I’m sure you’ve all been wondering and worrying! We have one, it’s good. Some of the plants have even produced edible food! Others, not so much. But let’s talk strawberries.
I think we’ve established that I am no horticultural genius. But I’m pretty sure our strawberry plant is some kind of mutant. Here’s the deal: all of the berries are elongated and small. These are among the largest berries we’ve harvested. Quite a few are oddly shaped with the seeds all clustered.

Sweet! I’ve started calling them “jamberries”, they taste so much like sugar has been added. The kids fight over them. I horde them. Seriously, even the tiny ones are crazy sweet.
I don’t know how to convey to you the uncommon deliciousness that is these berries. And if my plants aren’t just mutated wonders of the berry world, and this is how all home-grown strawberries are, why did no one tell me about this?! We’re totally planting more next year.
