It is always amazing to me how quickly the summer weeks fly by. It’s already mid-July!?!? This week my kids and I are off to our annual Science Camp. Our theme this year is SCI: Science Camp Investigators, discussing the Scientific Method through forensics. It’s going to be awesome! I’m sure I’ll have tons of pictures and lots of information to share when we get back. You can read about our past Science Camps here:
Falling for Science This week is also Kids Clothes Week: Summer.
I’m super bummed it’s overlapping our Science Camp, since I missed participating this past Spring, as well. But I have a few kid-related sewing items to share this week in solidarity for those of you sewing for your kids as part of the challenge. I can’t wait to see all the amazingness that will be posted on the incredible new KCW website!
Finally, I wanted to talk a little bit about Skirting the Issue, a sew along that’s spanning the whole month of July. The girls over at Simple Simon/Project:Sewn/Project Run and Play have put together an inspiring line-up of themed weeks, all centered around needed items that can be sewn for non-profit organizations. Please go take a look and see if you can help out in any way.
Here is my Playground Skirt tutorial and PDF pattern I put together for last year’s Skirting the Issue.
There are links to all of the tutorials from last year on Simple Simon & Co, as well as a whole new group that correspond with each week’s theme for this year (not just skirts. Go check it out!). They’ve also provided a great list of organizations in need, so you can donate your sewn items locally. Seriously, such a great thing those girls are doing.
