So here’s the story: Christmas Eve, my youngest nephew got sick. He spent the evening at home, and missed out on the traditional family Christmas Eve festivities, including the annual PJ Stair Well Cousin Picture. We took the pictures anyway, you know, for posterity and all of that.
And I was so distracted by how adorable my youngest two were being with each other on the bottom step that I failed to notice the craziness a few of the other kids were up to while I snapped away. Plus, my camera isn’t so great in poor lighting, which means we get clear shots of half the kids while the kids in the back are always in shadows. Every year.
It was decided we’d do a Stair Well Picture redo on Christmas Day with all ten kids. But then the baby was sick again the next day. So we pushed the photo shoot back to New Years. And then the oldest cousin went to a friend’s house instead of hanging out with his super-awesome extended family. Weird, right?! So we bagged the redo and just shot a bunch of singles of the cutest little lone pajama-ed kid on stairs ever.
Oh! And my husband gave me a new camera lens for Christmas, so take that dark stair wells!
Just for fun, here are all the Cousin Christmas pics since we started matching them in 2005, including from before we started making them. We didn’t get matching PJs in 2006, so no picture for that year. And the sudden jump from two little cousins to six multi-sized cousins: in the missing year, I had a baby and my sister and brother-in-law started fostering three amazing kids that would eventually permanently become part of our family.
<<< I know! amazing photoshop skills!
Love this tradition!
