These are Burda’s Skinny Trousers, the jeans I was sewing in all of the sew along pictures. I actually made four pair of jeans for the series, two Named Jamie Jeans and two Burda Skinny Trousers. The first Burda are in the pattern review post HERE. I hadn’t planned on making a second pair until I found some fun fabric. But messing up on the pockets in the first pair was really bothering me, and I felt the need to redeem myself. So here we are, another Burda Skinny, in plain old blue denim.
The Burda pattern is a medium- to high-rise waist, so the top of the pants sits a bit above my hips. They are really comfortable, with no worries at all when I bend over that I’m going to flash anyone.
The fit is pretty good, other than some bagginess at the crotch, especially when I sit. They aren’t super skinny through the leg, but part of that might be that my bum and upper legs are bigger proportionately to my lower legs.
Overall, I like them, but don’t love them. I don’t know that I’ll bother sewing another pair, but if I do, I’m going to take in the lower legs a bit, and hopefully figure out the crotch issues. I gave a sneak peek of my red Named Jamie Jeans in the pattern review post and again in when I shared the Perfect Pattern Parcel. I love these jeans! I’ve been wearing them as much as possible.
And same with the blue pair of Jamie Jeans. Both are made from Italian stretch denim from Michael Levine. I love this fabric!! I want every color of this fabric. The red is a fabulous heathered red, with perfect jean stretch. The blue, or “light indigo” has the same stretch, but it also has an incredibly soft, brushed texture to it. It feels super expensive, but it’s not. The red HERE, the light indigo HERE.
And that’s all I’m going to show you of the Named Jamie Jeans today. They are kind of a post unto themselves, so I’ve decided to go into more detail on them next week. For now, just know I love them. Very, very much.
Your turn! Did you sew jeans? Have you sewn some before? We’d love to see them!
