I was supposed to show you these jeans in detail last week, with my official Jeans Sew Along Jeans Reveal Post. But I wanted to highlight them more than in a post shared with the other jeans I made.
And I love them so very much.
Why do I love them? One, the design is fun and different. There is a center seam that runs down the length of the jean. This not only looks cool, but makes these jeans easier to fit to your body, since you have one more seam to work with. The front pockets are sewn into this seam, at an angle, and with a bound top that allows for some fun fabric pairings. On this pair, I used the reverse side of the denim. The denim is from Michael Levine HERE. It is fabulous. Perfect pant-weight with great stretch, but not too much. I highly recommend it. Highly.
The back pockets also are a little different than the traditional. The pocket is two pieces, top and bottom. Nothing crazy, but different and cool.
I am super happy with the fit of the Jamie Jeans through the back. The best fit of any of the jeans I’ve made.
This pair was made with more of the Italian denim from Michael Levine, in light indigo HERE. This denim has the same fab stretch and weight that the red does. But the Light Indigo also is brushed, so the texture is super soft and luxurious.
I think for most jeans, I’d prefer a regular textured denim. But for this pair, I really love the soft brushed. I wanted to keep that luxury going, and added suede to the pockets. The front pockets, I just used the suede for the top pocket panel, on pattern. For the back pockets, I added the suede like you would piping, at that center seam between top and bottom.
Named Clothing sent the Jamie Jean to Melissa and me as part of their sponsorship for the sew along. But we sought them out specifically for this pattern. We both loved the way it looked, and wanted to try it for ourselves. I’m so glad we did. I am looking forward to playing more with this pattern. I want to try a pair without the center seam, like a couple pair I saw on the Named Clothing Pinterest Board.
You have through the end of the month (just a few more days) to pick up the Jamie Jean at 10% off, or any other trouser or short at Named Clothing. Use the code TROUSERSANDSHORTS at checkout.

And as a parting shot, me doing this. I have no idea why I was walking like that. But it makes me laugh.
