Lillestoff. Oh, how I love Lillestoff fabrics!
When I first started sewing clothing, I was frustrated that I couldn’t find fabric that felt like the fabric in ready to wear clothing, at least in good ready to wear clothing. And then I heard about Euro knits. European knits are known for their bright, rich prints and their buttery soft, thick quality. You know how Hanna Andersson clothes feel? Expensive and like they will last forever? That’s what you get with Lillestoff. They sew better, they wear better, and they wash better. Lillestoff was the first Euro knits I ever purchased, and I fell in love immediately.
Today, I’m beyond happy to announce that Lillestoff is sponsoring this blog! And to celebrate, I’ve sewn up a dress for Ivy in some Sweet Days, one of my very favorite Lillestoff prints.
If I were to handpick a sponsor for myself, it would be Lillestoff. They are one of my very favorite fabric companies and I’ve been fan for a few years now. If you’ll bear with me, I’m about to gush all about why I love Lillestoff like I do.
Their prints are always so fun, the colors deep and vibrant, and the fabric is a dream to sew with. It’s like buttah. If you haven’t sewn with high-quality knits, you have no idea what you’re missing. They definitely spoil you to anything else. Unfortunately, good knits, like Euro knits, can be hard to find, especially State-side. But guess what!?! Lillestoff just launched a website for US customers. Prices are in US dollars (no worrying about the ever-constantly changing exchange rates that usually favor the Euro!), and the fabric is shipped right to your door, straight from Germany! And it’s fast. Like, really fast.
Lillestoff carries a huge collection of graphics, prints, and solids. I mean, HUGE. And they add more designs all the time. One thing I really love about Lillestoff fabric, is that the prints can work with each other. Like, the blues in this Sweet Day are the same as in the Bakery Fun from the dress I showed last week, and the reds and oranges are the same as Goodnight Bunny from Ivy’s birthday dress this past winter, and that green matches her Woodland Party dress from last year. They all coordinate, so it makes matching over a computer screen, and knowing what to order, that much easier. They also sell ribbing, which works with all the fabric prints, too.
I mentioned how well these fabrics wash. Did you know that not all fabrics clean the same? It’s true. Higher quality fabrics, with a higher thread count, wash better. Stains come out easier. I don’t understand the science behind it. But I appreciate it. Especially when I give my kids snow cones when they are wearing newly-sewn clothing. Also, let’s talk fading. I have purchased quite a bit of custom fabric via Facebook pages. They are adorable and thick and feel high quality. But they have almost all faded horribly. Super frustrating when I paid the same for those as I did for my Euro knits. Ivy’s Lillestoff birthday dress that she wore multiple times a week for months? Still vibrant and beautiful. I don’t even air dry my Lillestoff clothing. I know, I’m a rebel, but I haven’t had a fading issue, so I don’t worry about it.
And Lillestoff isn’t just pretty. You can feel good about buying it. It’s manufactured in Germany, not in a sweatshop. And it’s all GOTS certified. What is GOTS? I googled it for you. Global Organic Textile Certified. From the GOTS website: [GOTS was organized to] “ensure the organic status of textiles from harvesting of the raw materials through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing all the way to labelling”. Lillestoff is socially and environmentally responsible from start to finish.
That is why I love Lillestoff and that is why I am so very, very excited to be working with them. Please go over to their website and look at what all they have to offer. Sweatshirt knits, stripes, stars, all kinds of prints, ribbons, wovens, and even a whole new line of women’s fabrics (I have something fun coming soon with those!). Check out their Facebook page, and they always have great inspiration and fun textile-in-the-making images on their Instagram feed. Also, Stacey at Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy is hosting a giveaway right for some Lillestoff fabrics, so for sure go check that out! Really, you can’t go wrong with Lillestoff.
