My ten year old has an affinity for food-themed clothing. He also has a passion for pizza. Luckily for him, his mom sews and knows about MyFabricDesigns.com
The first time I ever browsed on MyFabricDesigns, I looked specifically for food prints with my middle son in mind. I found this pizza print and jumped on it. I didn’t even know, at the time, exactly what I would make. I ordered French terry because I have a slight obsession with that textile at the moment, and there really are so many things you can make with the stuff. Shortly after the fabric arrived, Seth announced that he had to do a presentation on something he was “an expert” on for his fourth grade class. He chose pizza. I told him I knew what he should wear for the presentation.
I used the Tightrope Walker Jacket pattern (#37) from Ottobre 4/2015. I added some hip pockets, but other than that, stayed on-pattern. The cuffs and collar are some leftover Liandlo Green Stripe from Ivy’s outfit HERE. The main fabric is Pizza Party in poly French terry at MyFabricDesigns.com HERE
The jacket was a hit with his classmates and his teacher, who actually used to go to fashion design school. That was months ago now, and he continues to wear this jacket every chance he gets. I snapped a couple of pictures on my phone just the other day when we went out for pizza, and Seth grabbed his jacket, in spite of almost 100F weather, to wear for the occasion.
He loves the comments and questions he gets from people on it. As much as he’s worn it, and I’ve washed it, the fabric has held up fantastic. No fading at all. The graphic is still as vibrant as when it was new.
There have been quite a few more food prints added recently to the MyFabricDesigns.com inventory. You can find them by browsing under the “Kitchen” heading. Seth’s dreams of an all-food wardrobe just may come true.
