Ivy and I have some new swimwear to show you. A few weekends ago, we spent time with family up in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. We brought along our new swim suits and got some shots while playing in a local hot spring.
My top is the Bahama Mama Colorblock Tankini and my bottoms are the Bahama Mama Boy Shorts. The pattern is pretty straight forward. Overall, swimwear really is pretty quick and easy to sew. The only real tricky part is the optional cup support. I used pre-made cups, an option in the pattern. But even then, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The support is great, and the high neck keeps things covered even when tiny hands are pulling at me. I used my coverstitch quite a bit on the suits. I’m still learning all its quirks, but I’m loving that machine more and more. It really does make for such a better finish.
The shark fabric I used is no longer available, but the stripes are. They are the Cabana Stripe HERE. Both fabrics have additional UV protection, which is pretty cool. Also, they are great quality. I also bought the lining for the suits from Peek A Boo. I highly recommend them.
And Ivy’s suit. Could it be any cuter!?!
I didn’t get any dry shots of the front of her suit, she was so quick to run to the water. But a swim suit is supposed to be wet, so this picture is more authentic anyway, right?
The pattern is the Coco Cay Color Block Tankini. The bottoms are included in the pattern, and have a couple of options. I went with the bikini style bottom. The tankini has a racer-back, and is just so cute on little shoulders. I also love that color block down the side. Such a great way to show off contrasting and coordinating fabrics.
The fabric is also from Peek A Boo. Like the shark print, the pineapples are now sold out. Sorry. The polka dots are still available, though, and SO CUTE. I was so impressed with the swimwear I bought, I’m going to try out some board fabric for my boys soon.
We’ve been putting our suits to the test all summer long.
They’ve held up great. The fabric has washed wonderfully with no fading or pilling. The support in my suit has been perfect. And they’re just fun to wear.
