A little something today that I sewed for a friend’s baby boy.
I combined a few Ottobre patterns for the outfit; the “Bear Forest” Romper from the 4/2016 issue (pattern #7) with the “Bear Ears” Hat from the same issue (pattern #10) with the goggles from the Aviator Hat from issue 4/2014 (pattern #10)
The romper is a fun sew, and a different style romper than you usually see. The baby is dressed and changed through a drop-opening in the back. It’s fastened with snaps. I haven’t sung its praises in a while, but my KAM press is fantastic. It was a pricey initial purchase, especially because I wasn’t sure how often I would really use it. But over the years, I have used it so very often. I always ALWAYS mess up metal snaps when installing with a hammer. The prongs go every which way, and there are usually a few sharp ends poking out of the fabric. I never have that with the KAM press. So worth the investment.
I used some left over fabric I used from this project for my nephew. It’s some of my very favorite fabric ever, and happens to be orange; a favorite color of my friend. The fabric is NOSH Organics purchased from Kitschy Coo . It is super soft and thick and just a fabulous choice for kidswear.
The hat is a mash-up. I took the “Bear Ears” hat and left the ears off. Instead of the ears, I added the goggles from the Aviator Hat from issue 4/2014. You can see the full Aviator Hat I made my nephew previously HERE
Also, the hat is reversible. So if my friend prefer no goggles, that choice is there.
