Sometimes, I get a bit obsessive with little projects and make a whole slew of basically the same thing. This happens when a pattern is very good, very easy, and I have great fabric. Such is the case with the Wide Mouth Bags by Noodlehead and Dizzy Bee linen canvas from MyFabricDesigns.
I have had my eye on this print by IdleFancy at MyFabricDesigns for months and months. I finally ordered some in their Faux Linen Canvas. It is beautiful. The drape is so soft and flowey, it would be perfect for curtains. But I wanted bags. Lots and lots and lots of bags.
I have recently taken up knitting. I’m super excited about my new hobby. My sister made me a fantastic project bag as a welcome to the World of Knitting gift, and it made me want a bunch more. I’m using her bag to hold the bulk of my extra supplies, as it’s pretty big and perfect for storing everything. But I wanted some smaller bags for individual projects and to sort my odds and ends within the larger bag my sister made.
My knitting sister-in-law commissioned me a couple of years ago to make her some Wide Mouth Bags for her knitting projects. So I knew the pattern by Noodlehead was good, and perfect for project bags.
So I whipped up a set for myself. I have been using them from the time I took them off the machine. And they are perfect. They all fit within the bag my sister made. I can keep all my things nice and organized.
And when I am ready to knit, I just grab the project I want. I can knit right from the bag, keeping my yarn inside the bag, protected from the killer claws and jaws of my cat.
So, I whipped up a few extra as gifts for various gifty reasons that have come up over the past couple of weeks. This one was for my 11 year old’s teacher, for Teacher Appreciation Week. I had to take a picture because the card he wrote kills me. Thankfully, his teacher gets his sense of humor, including him insisting on signing everything as Bob Dole. I don’t even know.
All of the bags have the faux linen as the upper fabric, and black leather for the lower. The insides are all either linen or quilting cotton, just whatever scraps I had big enough to use for the lining.
These things are so very fast and easy to sew up, and really, don’t take much fabric. I want to make a few just to keep on hand for last-minute hostess gifts and whatnot. And the fabric is my favorite. I adore this print and the gold color, especially with the black leather. It has such a lush, expensive feel together and just looks fantastic.
Yeah, I think I may need a few more.
Fabric was provided as part of a sponsorship agreement with MyFabricDesigns.
